AzmanL/iStockOne mother’s uncommon definition of bath time for her child has caused an uproar on social media. Neely Gracey, who lives in Colorado, recently posted a video to her Instagram account, in which she and her family are seen enjoying some pool time.
The video also momentarily shows her toddler son playing and then wrapped in a towel. “Happy ‘the pool counts as a bath’ season to all who participate,” she wrote over the video. “Plz tell me I’m not the only mom who is celebrating ,” she captioned the post, adding hashtags: #boymom #summertime #adventurewiththegraceys.
“Noooo wayyy man,” one person commented. “Pool day means it is DEFINITELY a tubby night for my kiddos. So gross, chemicals, sunscreen, sweat, pee, salt, etc .”
“Sorry I’m a lifeguard and the chlorine does not clean our skin well!!” another person wrote. “It actually disinfects the water from piss and poo but it leaves our skin nasty and dry and gross with all the chemicals and bacteria on us.”
In an interview with People, the mom shared she didn’t think the video would go viral.
“Gosh, I had no idea it was going to turn into this. I was just thinking how much fun we were having since the pools opened Memorial Day weekend,” she said. “The majority of my followers are moms, so I cracked a joke acknowledging the epic battles that ensue with every bath time, knowing that moms ‘get it’ and would agree that sometimes it’s not worth the fight.”

“We do our best as parents to ensure our kids are safe, clean, fed and always loved,” she continued. “For better or worse, there is always truth in humor, and the reality is that sometimes my kids bathe after the pool and sometimes they don’t.”
