Carlson made the explosive statement during a conversation with guest Clayton Morris in the recent episode of ‘The Tucker Carlson Show’. The claim surfaces as Carlson faces mounting backlash over his skepticism toward Trump and his criticism of the decision to attack Iran’s nuclear sites.

Tucker Carlson alleges Murdochs urged him to run against Donald Trump after Fox ouster

In a revealing conversation on his recent podcast, Tucker Carlson claimed that Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch, the powerful media moguls, approached him with a surprising proposition.

Speaking with guest Clayton Morris, Carlson said bluntly, “The Murdochs really hate Trump. Like, there’s no one who hates Trump more than the Murdochs,” as per Mediaite.

He went on to detail the timeline: “I got fired in April of 2023. In May of 2023, they asked me to run for president against Trump and said they would back me.”

Despite the offer, Carlson insisted he had no political ambitions. “Obviously I’m not gonna be running for any offi-, you know, I would never get elected any, plus I like Trump!” he added, expressing both admiration and frustration toward the president.

Morris, visibly taken aback, interrupted to clarify, “So hold on — I’m sorry. You just said that, and people by, I mean, they asked you to run for president against Trump? The Murdochs?”

Carlson confirmed, “Yeah, yeah, yeah!” He then recalled a direct conversation with the media mogul, “Lachlan Murdoch said, ‘You should run for p-, we’ll back you, the whole thing.'”

When Morris asked whether that included the entire Fox media machine, the conservative journalist elaborated, “And not just Fox, but, you know, Wall Street Journal– all their papers, everything.”

Carlson confirmed the offer came after his firing, though he was still under contract at the time.

“I was already gone, they’d already canceled my show. I was still under contract, but they canceled my show. ‘You should run, we support you, you should run,'” Carlson noted, as Morris added, “We want to stop Trump.” The former Fox News host agreed: “Yeah, well, he was running.”

Internet reacts to Tucker Carlson’s claims about the Murdochs urging him to run against Donald Trump

Tucker Carlson’s claim that the Murdochs encouraged him to run against Donald Trump drew mixed reactions from netizens, ranging from mockery to outrage.

One user mocked, “Right after they cancelled you. Ok you made the right call. Obviously,” while another speculated, “Tucker seems to be facing issues.”

A person advised, “You have already been going down the rabbit hole of crashing your credibility, no need to make it happen faster,” while someone else mocked him, writing, “YOU ARE A JOKE.”

Another questioned, “And now Fox is pretending to be a Trump Lover 🤔 @TuckerCarlson.”

“Whether it’s true or not, it doesn’t matter he’s running against Trump now,” one more wrote, possibly referring to Carlson’s criticism of Trump’s decision to bomb Iran.

“I like Tucker most of the time.  His most recent posts about the potential of WWIII were uncalled for and wrong. But I certainly wouldn’t vote for him for president,” another tweet read.
