A 19-year-old Walmart employee was found dead inside the bakery’s walk-in oven. Gursimran Kaur worked at the Walmart in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. She was an employee at the store with her mother, who sadly, was the one who found her “charred remains” in the oven, according to the GoFundMe created for the family.

The mom and daughter duo worked at the store together for the past two years. The family is now suffering an unimaginable loss as they search for answers.

According to the New York Post, the mother became worried after her daughter didn’t check in with her for over an hour. It was something they normally did.

After another employee noticed what was described as “leakage” coming from the oven hours later, the mother opened the door to discover her daughter’s body. “Imagine the horror that her mother experienced who herself opened the oven,” the GoFundMe organizer wrote.

Police are currently investigating the young woman’s death, and Halifax Regional Police have called the case “complex,” according to Fortune.

Sources say that the oven did not lock, but authorities have not mentioned any suspected foul play. Authorities have not released many details about the woman’s death.

Kaur and her mother had only moved to Canada from India a few years earlier.

“Both, Gursimran’s father and brother are in India and we are trying to get them here as soon as possible,” the GoFundMe reads. “This family’s sufferings are unimaginable and indescribable. They need your support to get through this horrific time.”

“It’s pretty distressing, you know,” Satnam Singh Randhawa told CBC News. He is chair of the Maritime Sikh Society board, which is a community the teen was a part of. “Young people come here with all kinds of hopes and dreams and they’re working hard and then this is what happens,” he said.
